S asked: I have a trip to Italy soon, and these seem like they might be a good idea. I need some support on the ankle, which is why i might choose these. For all that said they were good for walking, are we talking a normal day walking or "travel walking" i need something that's going to hold up for 7-8 hours. Would these work, or should I get hiking shoes?

  • Josephine: "I lived in these boots all winter. They are comfortable and very well made. I highly recommend them."
  • Eileen: "To be honest with you, they are a well made shoe. However, they may not be that comfortable for you if you are going to be in them for 7-8 hours and walking in them. Don't get me wrong, they are a well made shoe. But for the travel walking you might want to try something else."
  • Susan: "I use the shoes for about 10 hours a day. This will hold for 7-8 hours travel walking. You will enjoy your travel with this shoes."
  • Faye: "I love these shoes. They are very comfortable and I wear them 8 hours aday while working. I'm in retail so I'm on my feet all day.I liked them so much I bought one in each color.Fit is true to size."
  • Bernadette: "I wouldn't say it has a lot of ankle support, but if you're not hiking all day, these are extremely comfortable shoes. You actually feel like you're walking on air. One of the best buys I have made in a long time. They are super comfortable."
  • Donna: "I have worn these shoes all day without any discomfort, as I found them very light and useful. However if you plan on walking during your travels on more often than not vey uneven pavement or lots of mountain type terrain you may require a heavier hiking boot."
  • Donna: "The shoe runs big, both in length and width. The laces do not allow you to tighten it up, only 2 and poorly positioned. If you have a wide foot and heavy ankles might work."
  • Julia: "I guess it depends on how much support you need & how strenuous your walking will be. If you go with these I would recommend replacing the insole with an athletic shoe type of insole. These shoes have some give around the ankle. Have you looked at hiking shoes, as opposed to hiking boots? They're lighter weight, although not as light as the Naturalizer Hudson, but give more ankle support. And of course it helps a lot with any shoe if you can switch to fresh socks halfway through the day, even if you don't want to be as extreme as wearing thin silk socks under moisture wicking hiking socks!"
  • Lisa: "I love love love these shoes. I wear them to work and I'm on my feet a lot, not 8 hours straight, but up and down all day long. The ones I bought last year were brown and they were called Huxleys and they were soooo comfortable that I had to find another pair this year. I actually wore the soles out of the last pair. The only thing the Huxleys had that the Hudsons don't have is the Dr. Scholl's Gel inserts that came built-in to the Huxleys. I have weak ankles and I like the support I get from these shoes. And I didn't have the "break-in period" with either of these pairs of shoes that I almost always have with any new shoes. They were comfortable from the get-go."
  • S: "Thanks guys.... I was pretty sure they weren't right for me, glad I could hear from you guys that i was in fact right!"
  • Vickie: "While I really like these shoes and I wear them all day with walking about I would say they are for "normal day walking". The ankle height is not a "supportive" type of height. I have arch problems, weak ankles and though these are comfortable if I were you and on a trip where there is no opportunity to "grab another pair of shoes out of the closet" I would get more of a hiking type of shoe. Something with good, solid foot support and ankle support (unless it would rub-that's my issue with hiking boots rather than hiking shoes.). Now, if you don't have arch or bottom of the foot problems, these would work provided you invest in a good ankle support product --check the drug store. It really depends on how much of a foot/ankle problem you have and whether you will be on level surfaces, streets, etc. OR walking over rocky terrain, slopes, etc. Hope this helps--when in doubt I opt to "overkill" (hiking shoe) rather than risk hurting feet and/or injury."
  • Donna: "they run a bit large so mine don't really support my ankles...get a size smaller and you might be ok"

Sandra asked: comfy with heavy socks?

  • W: "Yes it is."
  • A: "Yes I wear with thick socks because I purchased wide width and these are cool/not sub zero cold weather wear I really like them"
  • Shirley: "Regular sock would be OK but heavy socks would be too tight."
  • DIANA: "Yes although my socks aren't too thick. The shoe is very comfortable."
  • Joan: "These shoes are very comfortable. I have never worn them with heavy socks, but if you can get the shoe on with them - they would be comfortable."
  • susan: "Absolutely. These boots are soft and have extra room to add thick socks. They are almost more comfortable with them."
  • melissa: "Hi Sandra, Yes! These are comfortable with thick socks - in fact, I prefer them with thicker socks because the shoes are not lined. I usually wear a size 5, so I ordered a 6 and they fit great!"
  • Carmen: "Very comfortable love these shoes"
  • Ruth: "Yes. Works great with heavy socks."
  • M. Cristina: "Very comfortable, you can walk in these shoes for a long time."
  • Elena: "If you're to wear this shoe with thick socks, size up 1/2 size."
  • Marilynn: "I have worn medium weight socks with this shoe and was comfortable. I think a heavy sock would be fine if your instep isn't real high or your ankle is thick."

Eloise asked: Are they true to size?

  • Kathleen: "Yes, they are true to size. I typically order up 1/2 size with boots but did not do this in this case and they fit fine. Pretty roomy."
  • S: "yes..........true to size"
  • Julia: "I bought my usual length, size 6, but went to a wide instead of a medium so I could wear Thorlo socks with them. Works great, very comfy once I replaced the insole with an athletic shoe type insole. I like a lot of cushioning in shoes that I wear to walk around large grocery stores & across large parking lots."
  • Vickie: "Yes, true to size for most Naturalizer shoes. I wear and 8 1/2 but sometimes a 9 if the arch support is "short" in a shoe. I love these shoes! So comfortable!"
  • Donna: "The shoes are true to size and very comfortable."
  • Susan: " Yes they are true to size"
  • Ellen: "I'd say they run small-ish. In a boot, I normally wear 9.5 but had to trade those in for 10. I love the shoes, quality is great and I enjoy wearing."
  • Erin: "They are true to Naturalizer size. I find every company is slightly different; for instance, I wear 1 size smaller in Reebok."
  • Susan: "They are true to size and very comfy."
  • Anne: "Yes. I have bought 3 pairs of these shoes. They are incredibly comfortable."
  • Cindy: "They might be a little small for size but not a lot."
  • Patricia: "yes"
  • Edelmira: "Yes."
  • SUSAN: "Yes they are absolutely true in size to any other Naturalizer shoe I have worn."
  • Donna: "perhaps just a tad large"

k asked: Do they come in 5.5?

  • k: "Thanks"
  • Hillary (staff): "Hello, I'm sorry this particular style is not available in size 5.5. The sizes range from size 6.0-11.0. Thank you, Hillary"
  • Katherine: "I have no idea, but they are GREAT shoes...I love mine."
  • melissa: "kr, I think the smallest size they sell is a 6. I usually wear a 5, but ordered a 6. I knew I would be wearing them with heavier socks, and sure enough, they fit great! I really love them, but I just wish they had a little more arch support."
  • Donna: "You would need to read the sizes to determine if they come in half sizes. I wear an 8 and feel the shoe is true to size and very comfortable..almost like wearing a slipper."

G asked: Can you wear this shoe on rainy/wet days?

  • Shirley: "Rremember they are suede and they will stain. Already experienced that."
  • SUSAN: "I would not. I don't think the "seal" between the sole and upper is waterproof and very much rain would ruin the suede. "
  • Edelmira: "I haven't worn these on a rainy day yet, but I won't hesitate to do so. I don't expect that rain will damage them. I have other boots made from suede (in black) that I have worn in the rain and they have held up without any problems."
  • Rosemarie: "I wouldn't. You wouldn't want to get suede wet."

Laura asked: is it true to size? I wear a size 7 but the boots I have tried on lately in other brands I fit into an 8.

  • ANGELICA: "yes it is."
  • Karen: "Mine was true to size"
  • Josephine: "Although I just received them I have not had a chance to actually wear them yet. However, when I tried them on after receiving them, they appear to be true to size."
  • Shirley: "True to size."
  • Bernadette: "It is definitely true to size and so comfortable!"

Gail asked: I wear an orthotic. Is the sole removable? I wear a size 8 sneaker. Should I buy a size 8 in this shoe? Or should I buy an 8 1/2 because I'm planning on wearing them with heavy socks?

  • L: "Not sure about the removable sole. The size is perfect for me. I normally wear the wide width but I purchased a10 M. The shoes fit is comfortable but wearing a thick sock would make it tight and uncomfortable. I would give it a try as they can be returned for an exchange."

  • Shirley: "Sole not removable. If you wear heavy socks then buy bigger size. If you wear trouser socks then you don't need bigger size. These are very nice."
  • Shirley: "Sole not removable. If you wear heavy socks then buy bigger size. If you wear trouser socks then you don't need bigger size. These are very nice."
  • Bernadette: "Buy a half a size larger if you're going to wear heavy socks with these shoes."
