Inspired by the Masai, MBT was developed for over a decade to address the chronic back, knee and foot problems that afflict modern society.
Slip on a pair of MBT shoes and the multi-layered sole immediately transforms hard, flat surfaces into a soft, shifting terrain.
By creating this natural instability underfoot, the body’s supporting muscle system is stimulated and immediately exercised, triggering
the positive effect of Masai Barefoot Technology such as improved gait and posture, relief from pressure on the joints and the back, and muscle exercise.

MBT, or Masai Barefoot Technology, was developed by the Swiss to emulate the natural walking conditions of the Masai. A semi-nomadic tribe from East Africa
known for having excellent posture and almost never experiencing joint or back pain, the Masai have adapted their bodies by walking barefoot on the soft,
sandy Mara plain, developing natural shock absorbers that protect their back, knee and hip joints.

MBT relieves stress on joints, exercises muscles and thus strenghtens the entire musculo-skeletal system – all these effects result
from the interplay of the following components:
1) Inner sole
2) Shank: the TPU and glass fibre shank provides the necessary firmness for the sole construction. It also ensures a natural
rolling movement of the foot with every step and optimizes the pressure distribution over the whole sole.
3) PU midsole with pivot: the balancing section integrated in the PU midsole underneath the metatarsus requires an active
rolling movement with every step and activates a large number of stabilising muscles throughout the whole body both when walking and standing.
4) Floater: the Floater is the heart of Masai Barefoot Technology. It produces a pleasant feeling reminiscent of walking on
a sandy beach or on soft moss – and creates the natural instability to which the body automatically reacts with increased muscle activity.
5) Outer sole
