Flaviana | Creating A Culture of Giving Back I grew up in a culture of giving, and I am who I am because of people who believed in me and who supported me. So who am I not to do the same for others? I always tell people that they don't need to have much, you don't have to have a big platform, to give wherever they can. It doesn't matter how small you start. Find something you are passionate about and believe in, and give a hand. If we each give back in a small way, it becomes big.

"Flaviana | Empowering Young Girls through Education My own education equipped me with the courage and confidence to succeed, and I want to instill that in others. I started The Flaviana Matata Foundation seven years ago as my way of giving back to my community back home in Tanzania, to change the future for other girls there. I believe by empowering young girls through education, you can change their lives. This is not only access to quality education, but mentorship programs to secure jobs and become financially independent. My goal is to create future leaders by teaching them how to empower themselves. I hope the 4,500 girls that have been through our schools have a brighter future and believe we can make meaningful change one girl at a time."

"Flaviana | Entrepreneurship with Purpose I founded my own nonprofit to empower girls in Tanzania, and I started Lavy Products for a similar reason. I saw a need in my community for safe and affordable nail polish and an opportunity for women to learn a skill and run their own businesses. Before I started Lavy, only a certain class of woman could afford to buy nail polish that was not filled with harmful chemicals. We provide both the products and training on how to do nails and start your own company. I am all about the empowerment of black women. When you can combine your passion and work with helping others, everyone succeeds."

"Flaviana | Style Philosophy It's important to wear things that are going to make you comfortable and confident. Never wear what others think you should wear. Always be yourself. "
