ON THE REAL CATWALK
It was important for me to start talking about everybody's acceptance in the fashion world. The Real Catwalk is there to inspire people to see themselves as strong, as powerful, and inspire brands and the media to make changes. I don’t want to see tokenism, I want to see inclusivity that I see in real life.
ON YOUR JOURNEY OF SELF-LOVE
I was approached by America’s Next Top Model, and I knew I had to be as truthful and authentic as I possibly could be. I stripped down to my bikini in Times Square. I took a second to breathe it all in in. The fear was gone. It felt good to exist in my body. I looked down. I looked at my belly, and I looked at my cellulite, I looked at my stretch marks. I felt like it was the beginning of something new on my journey of self-love, to see myself without judging my body.
ON BEAUTY AS A FEELING
When I feel beautiful, I feel powerful. I think beauty is a feeling. It’s enriching on so many levels. It makes me feel an incredible energy. It doesn’t have to be something to do with just physicality, it can be internal. Hearing a song, seeing a sunset, it’s just awesome. It is an emotion.
